Afro Samba Duo

An immersion in Brazil's deep musical roots, especially its oldest traditions shaped by African heritage, found particularly in Bahian culture, with its deeply felt spirituality and exuberant ritual dances.

The duo's name pays tribute to guitarist and composer Baden Powell, a pioneer and leading figure in the revival of this tradition in the last century.

Currently performing live with Benedetta Colasanto on vocals and percussion, the project has involved many musicians in live performances and recordings over time, including singers Nilza Costa and Rosa Emilia Dias from Bahia, singer Heloisa Lourenço from São Paulo, double bassist and singer Franco Nesti, saxophonist Max Zaniboni, and percussionist Dario Bano.
